BBC Farsi is a Farsi radio station and TV operated by the BBC that carries the latest political, social, economic and sports news on Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and the world. It is headquartered in London, England.

The BBC first launched an Iranian radio service on December 29, 1940, during World War II, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Imperial Service. The reasons why the government gave priority to this was Iran's King Reza Shah Pahlavi's sympathy for Nazi Germany. Following the Anglo-Soviet occupation of Iran in August 1941, the Foreign Ministry encouraged publication of the king's autocratic style and republican systems of government.
